Evaluation of Thermal Stability and Its Effect on the Corrosion Behaviour of Mg-RE Alloys Processed by High-Pressure Torsion

The evolutions of microstructure and texture the corrosion behaviour low light rare-earth containing Mg-1.4Nd heavy Mg-0.6Gd Mg-0.4Dy (wt.%) were evaluated compared after processing by high-pressure torsion (HPT) isochronal annealing at 250 450 °C for 1 h using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) electrochemical tests in a 3.5% NaCl solution. EBSD results show that dynamic recrystallisation (DRX) was restricted alloy which led to heterogenous deformation whereas alloys exhibited homogenous formed mostly equiaxed dynamically recrystallised DRX grains. HPT caused development deviated basal three alloys. A good thermal stability noticed °C. By contrast, weakening bimodal with stable HPT-processed Mg–RE an improved resistance due grain refinement. Thereafter, decreased increasing temperature increase size while precipitation weakening.
